With recent statistics from Statista (2025), it is estimated that approximately 20 percent of the population worldwide is able to communicate effectively in English. Based on this, it can therefore be concluded that English is a dominant language that has conquered the entire world. My conviction is that English is an important tool that brings people from around the world together, particularly in business and traveling.

In the present interconnected world, English language skills are a primary requirement in terms of doing business. Most business operations like negotiations, meetings, and agreements or agreements made in business involving different countries’ people. For example, international business corporations like Apple and Samsung Communicate in English language. The reason is that if there is a language like English in international business as a medium of understanding and operation in different parts of the world. Then international business operations would become quite challenging.

In the same way, English is an important language in the tourism and travel sector. This is because it acts as an interconnecting device between the travelers and the service providers, including hotel personnel, tourist guides, and flight staff. With English, the tourists are in a position to enquire and request services using their own language. This is because, for example, the Korean visitor can readily communicate with the Indonesian tourist guide using English.

Conclusion: English is much more than a medium of communication; it is an effective instrument that binds the world together. Its relevance can be identified primarily in the context of business and tourism; it helps to achieve cooperation and understanding through the medium of English. English thus functions as an integrating language that promotes world interaction in the highly interconnected world that we live in.
